Eastwick Infant School celebrates Good Ofsted Inspection
Staff and pupils at Eastwick Infant School in Bookham are celebrating following their Ofsted Inspection on 4 th December 2018 where they maintained their ‘Good' judgement. The school is tremendously proud of this achievement which reflects the hard work of staff and pupils since the last inspection in 2011 and the commitment of the school on its continuous journey of school improvement.
Inspectors found that ‘Strong leadership throughout the school has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection’ and that all pupils achieve highly. They also found that collaboration from working with colleagues across the Howard Partnership Trust provides ‘additional expertise that enriches pupils’ learning and supports their overall well-being’. The report highlighted that safeguarding is a strength in terms of its excellent record keeping noting ‘the rigorous approach you take when recruiting new staff’ and in educating pupils in order that they feel safe both off and online so that ‘Pupils know how to keep themselves safe’. The school keeps ‘a watchful eye on those children identified as being vulnerable. This tenacity helps protect children from harm’ and is a feature that all Howard Partnership Schools are proud of.
The report said ‘the teaching of mathematics across key stage 1 is becoming much more challenging’ and ‘pupils develop the necessary skills to become competent mathematicians’. Inspectors praised the ‘exemplary support for pupils with SEND’ and noted that the ‘inclusion team knows these pupils’ needs ‘inside out’ and is skilled in adapting provision to help them make rapid progress from their starting points’.
Head of School, Tim Smith said: ‘ I would like to say a big thank you to all staff in the Infant and Junior School, for your positive feedback to the inspector, and to the children for being so vocal in letting the inspectors know what they think of their school. I, and all of the school leadership team, are very proud to be part of such a strong team’.
