Village Day 2019: Lots of fun in the sea at Bookham

Village Day 2019: Lots of fun in the sea at Bookham

Bookham will be all awash on Village Day Saturday 15 June when the theme is All At Sea –on, in or under the sea. It promises lots of dressing up fun for youngsters in the big parade and the many stallholders on the field behind the Old Barn Hall.

Among the exciting attractions at this year's event is Elios & DiCarlo’s surfing waverider, from King Bouncelot of ‘bucking bronco’ fame, which starts slow and goes faster making for a thrilling ride. Last year's very popular climbing wall is coming back supported by John Wadsworth Estate Agents and Churches Together in Bookham, while non-stop arena events will feature the lively Band from the Pub, singer Natalie Goodacre and Action Theatre.

Punch and Judy shows will be among the attractions for younger children, while more than 50 stalls and sideshows will have lots to interest all ages. Refreshments include an outdoor bar, burgers and hot dogs while in the Old Barn Hall lunches and teas are also served.

The day kicks off with the big parade down the High Street at 11.40am. Reigate Sea Cadets Band will lead the parade for the first time, followed by children from local playgroups and infant schools dressed in their imaginative costumes.

Village Day, sponsored by The Vineries Garden Centre, is followed by a full week of activities during Village Week. It is organised by Bookham Community Association to raise money to keep the Old Barn Hall running for the local community and to providing the Bookhams Bulletin four times a year.
